Indian Summer in the mountains with Lufthansa Group

Late Summer travel to the most beautiful mountains in Europe via Vienna, Munich or Zurich is a real treat to all those wanting to admire the beauty of nature and seek to spend their leisure time actively – combine with visiting majestic castles and palaces, located in the Alps or Dolomites.

Bavaria – the gateway to the Alps

Alpine atmosphere welcomes travelers just as they land at the Munich airport. Passengers can admire a panorama of the Europe’s highest mountain range, located few dozen kilometers away.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen is a mountain resort located just a good hour  to Munich – a charming little town placed at the bottom of the highest peak of German Alps, Zugspitze. Ski jumping enthusiast surely know the town as one of the locations of the yearly Four Hills Tournament, but there is much to experience there in the summer and autumn as well. Tourist can, for example, climb to the Zugspitze peak situated at the altitude of 2 962m. Travelers looking for shorter trips can also try picturesque Eibsee lake, located at the bottom of the mountain, or a climb to the mountain of Wank (1 780m).

Region of Bavaria is well-known for its beautiful castles, in particular those built by Ludwig II, including the most famous Neuschwanstein, his favorite neo-baroque palace of Linderhof, as well as Hohenschwangau, belonging to his parents.

Polish Lufthansa passengers can travel to Munich from Warsaw, Krakow and Gdansk. Flights from all three cities are operated 5 times a week.

Relaxing near Swiss lakes and mountains

This time of the year, Switzerland welcomes its visitors with picturesque landscape, full of lake, meadows, forests, waterfalls and beautiful towns and villages. Many routes and mountain passes are closed-off during the Winter, so now is the perfect time to experience Swiss Alps from a different perspective and quickly after landing find yourself enjoying a breathtaking view from the altitude of over 2000 m, see the majestic Alpine peaks, glaciers and crystal lakes up close.

For those seeking active forms of recreation and loving the beauty of nature, Switzerland is a perfect holiday destination.

SWISS offers Polish passengers four weekly flights to Zurich from Warsaw and one weekly flight from Kraków. From September, SWISS will offer up to seven flights per week to Warsaw and the number of frequencies from  Kraków will be increased to two, and from October – to three.

Switzerland’s national airlines are offering its customers a new ‘Airtrain’ rail service in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Railways SBB train carrier. This allows passengers to book joint tickets for flights to Zurich and train ride to Basel, Lugano, and now also to Geneva, located on a scenic lakeside.

To Austria with Austrian Airlines

Travelers fond of mountain trails, both experienced and looking for fewer challenging climbs, can find what they are looking for in the Austrian Alps and its beautiful routes, including Olpererhütte with an amazing Kebema Panoramabrücke bridge, or Silberkarklamm with charming waterfalls and gorges. Tourists can also visit many stunning mountain villages, including Hallstatt, considered to be the prettiest town in the country, or picturesque Rattenberg.

Passengers looking for a more traditional form of relax will also find a little something for themselves, by the side of many lakes and river. Beautiful Wolfgangsee or Mondsee are perfect places to relax. At Lake Neusiedl fans of the watersports will feel at home – as one of the shallowest lakes in Europe, with maximum depth below 2 m, it is a perfect spot for beginner kite and windsurfers. Yearly international competitions in both disciplines are held there as well.

Austrian Airlines passengers have access to 9 weekly flights from Warsaw to Vienna. The carrier also offers 12 weekly frequencies from Vienna to the Alpine capital of the country, Innsbruck, allowing travelers to conveniently book joint tickets and enjoy a continuous journey from Poland towards the highest mountain range in Europe.

Lufthansa Group in Poland

Lufthansa Group is steadily expanding its offer in Poland. By October its carriers plan to offer 140 weekly flights from 6 Polish airports: Warsaw, Krakow, Wroclaw, Katowice, Gdansk and Poznan. Passengers from every corner of Poland have now access to the international network of flights offered from the Group’s hub airports.

Lufthansa, SWISS, Austrian Airlines and Brussels Airlines are generally changing their ticket fare structure until the end of December. With immediate effect, all fares can be rebooked several times free of charge – including, for example, the lowest light fare without checked baggage.

The airlines in the Lufthansa Group have introduced extensive hygiene measures on board and on the ground. They are also in close contact with the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) and national authorities to promote the ongoing development and harmonization of health standards in air transport during the corona pandemic.
